Comprising five luxury beachside villas, this stage of the Wan Jia Kun Lun Resort requires the introduction of an interesting and powerful landscape into a quite hostile coastal environment.

With the water table close to the surface across the entire design area, the landscape makes use of hardscape materials such as rock mulches, dry-laid stone walls and timber boardwalks, complimented by undulating mounds of native grasses that mimic the coastal patterns.

With views integral to the client’s vision, a lap pool is positioned to create long distant views for swimmers while maintaining the broad views of all adjacent villas.

The villa gardens, in contrast to the beachside landscape, are inspired by the angular lines of the villas themselves. Sitting well above the water table, and protected from the coastal environment, the planting  includes lush feature shrubs and specimen trees highlighting the minimalist garden design.
