Private Residence

The architecture of the award-winning Redhill Residence is robust, bold and minimal. In combination with the architecture this simple yet sophisticated landscape makes a strong modernist statement.

With a true open plan core, opening up via fully retractable doors, the inside blends seamlessly with the outside. To aid this effect, the landscape extends immediately up to and even into the built form.

Large lawn terraces flank the interior spaces and cascade down to the tennis court as well as the existing gardenesque planting which is being retained as an inviting contrast to the formality of the main landscape.

Plants have been chosen for their cultural significance to Canberra and for their unique aesthetic qualities. One example are densely set tall birches, underplanted with a carpet of ivy, sitting before an existing conifer hedge, offering a striking view from the main living space.
