Porter street apartments

Ryde, Australia

Cap Demolition

Located just northeast of the Parramatta River, in a beautiful and fast-changing pocket of Ryde, this boutique low-rise multi-residential development strikes a perfect balance between architectural and landscape aesthetic and amenity.

Lying immediately adjacent to Hayes Reserve, a linear city park, the development takes full advantage of its location by opening the groundfloor apartments directly onto this green space via garden courtyards. The connection between the apartments and Hayes Reserve allows the borrowed landscape of the park to add value to the lives of the residents and the project overall.

On the rooftop, a communal open space enjoys views over the region and the park via a curved cutout in the building facade. Using this same language, a bespoke timber deck curves up the building edge, transitioning into a pergola, and becoming the highlight of the rooftop. Accompanied by feature trees, a green wall, a small lawn and casual movable furniture, the deck forms a unique and inviting space to relax and appreciate the view over the city.
