Mount Lewis Infants School engaged LSA Design to establish a landscape masterplan for its grounds.
Starting with a student workshop kids - firstly introduced to passive and active spaces and various types of outdoor play and learning - then explored the grounds and sketched their ideas over photos of the existing playground. This generated a wishlist from which LSA Design conceived an exciting, cohesive and workable plan containing what students and staff most desired.
Held together by the introduction of The Spine, a colourful pathway through the school, the design unlocked the hidden potential of the site, including the steep slopes and small forgotten spaces, to produce exciting opportunities for play and teaching.
Highlights include: The Treehouse Village and Village Green, The Bent Court, The Digging Patch, The Games Room and several small Classroom Gardens outside existing rooms.
