haier tai tao hua yu walking street

Qingdao, China

Haier

Hoping to surpass successful developments like Shanghai Xintiandi, Chongqing Tiandi and Chengdu Kuan & Zhai Alley, Haier’s Tai An Tao Hua Yu Walking Street will stand out as a new pinnacle for the ever-growing urban fabric of Qingdao.

The famous Tai Mountain which towers over the project strongly influences the contemporary Chinese landscape design embedded in the laneway-style architecture.

Inspired by the spectacular line of sky visible in the split of a fractured boulder, a single line of water was expressed across the landscape. It is accompanied by cultural elements born of the mountain itself, such as the unique texture of the mountain’s stone, ancient poetic stone carving, the peach groves planted here for centuries and the sky in all its permutations, and weaves them into the overall landscape fabric.
