Located 20km from the centre of Beijing, Cofco Funmix Shopping Centre is a benchmark project, highlighting Vanke and Cofco's commitment to the environment. With the express aim at integrating aspects of sustainability, Funmix provided opportunity to push innovative and cutting edge ideas.⠀
The landscape is the project’s critical drawcard. The space is intended to be actively manipulated by visitors through the use of QR codes and apps, allowing control over a range of elements including lights, video displays and even interactive sculptures.
With Beijing’s minimal rainfall in mind, a series of custom designed tree pits and raingardens are introduced. The paved slopes adjacent to the tree pits increase the amount of rain water directed to the tree pits.
